►►  TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1ST, 2019.   British entertainer ADAM ANT returns to Florida in his “Friend Or Foe” Tour.”   BACKGROUND:  It was on a Thursday night, 16th October 1980, when millions of living rooms across the UK, were set on fire by a blazing TV performance by Adam and the Ants.  After 3 ferocious minutes of “Dog Eat Dog,” on the weekly music show, Top of the Pops, the phenomenon rapidly began and he would go on to dominate the charts with extraordinary success.  Now he takes the stage once again performing his first solo album, Friend or Foe in its entirety plus other fan favorites.  This is the seminal album that continued his success in the USA, delivering 3 top twenty hits on the Billboard Top 100. “Goody Two Shoes” was also a number 1 in both the UK and Australia. ►►►  NOVEMBER 2019.   MIAMI BOOKFAIR…..famous British authors come to the Miami Book Fair and hold book-signing events.  It’s the largest in the USA.  Featuring more than 600 authors and featuring booksellers and publishers from around the world, there are hundreds of events over 2 weeks at this annual event.  Music, food, gatherings, street fair–lots more. ►  DECEMBER 2019:  ART BASEL Miami Beach will run December  5/6/7/8, 2019.   [Press and VIP private collectors’ preview is December 4, 2019]. The  show always features about 300 premier galleries from 32 countries, including influential collectors, directors, curators, trustees and patrons of leading international museums and institutions. These included London’s Serpentine Galleries and the Tate.  Featuring numerous galleries and exhibitors from the UK, this is Florida‘s cultural event of the year.  I have attended every year since its start with art collector friends over especially from London.  It’s enjoyable to ogle handsome English dealers in pin-stripe Saville Row suits as much as their inventory.  No flip-flops here.  You can enjoy over 800 art-related events and parties across the Miami area.  Occurring annually since  2002,  Art Basel Miami Beach features 250 galleries from dozens of countries, especially the UK.  Famed British artist exhibits here every year. ►►►   JANUARY SEPTEMBER 14/15/17/18, 2020 New Order  return to Florida.  It’s an English rock band formed in 1980 by vocalist and guitarist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook, and drummer Stephen Morris. The band formed after the demise of Joy Division, following the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis; they were joined by Gillian Gilbert on keyboards later that year. ►►► February 1-3, 2019.   BRITISH MAPMAKERS, dealers and experts from the UK attend Miami’s International Map Fair each year. The British were the foremost explorers in the world with the greatest navy ever, so this necessitated all their early map-making.  The fair takes place in downtown Miami at the Historical Museum. Dealers from many countries attend, along with about 2000 visitors. The USA’s preeminent Map Fair presented by History Miami returns for a weekend of browsing and buying antique maps, with the public encouraged to bring in an old exhibition map of their own for opinions provided by onsite dealers.
