BRITISH PASSPORT SERVICES IN FLORIDA and ALL USA.  Since September 2013 there is only one way for expat Britons to do this: ONLINE. NOT IN PERSON. You submit all passport applications,  new issue and renewals,  to the Government Passport Office in the UK for processing.   Find all the information to complete the passport application process and submit passport photos on the ONLY OFFICIAL UK Government website    https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports.

NOTE:  If you want to apply for a new UK passport for a baby/child, go to same website to find that section. Ditto if you are American with British parents and want to apply for a UK passport.  Same if you were born in the UK, now live abroad and want to see if you qualify for a passport,  consult that same UK Government website.

► Allow at least 6 weeks from the date your application has been received by the Passport Office over in UK. Your application may take longer if HM Passport Office needs to request further information.   Avoid applying for your passport at the last minute.  Any remaining validity on your current passport will be transferred to your new one.

EMERGENCY LAST-MINUTE PASSPORT ONLY IN FLORIDA:  If you are due to travel to UK in under 10 days you can physically go to the British Consulate General in downtown Miami. They will issue you a temporary passport.  First, you MUST make an appointment–can’t just show up.  Call their office [305] 400-6400, listen to options and press the Emergency one to speak to somebody.  Explain you need an emergency passport.
