Florida has 2 British Consulates--in Miami and Orlando. Each has its own page on this website.   Since January 2007 the British Consulate in Miami has been a full Consulate-General, for the first time ever.  This reflects the growing importance of Florida to the British Government.  The Orlando office remains just a Consulate.  For the first time, Atlanta Consulate-General is no longer responsible for Florida matters. Miami Consul-General Keith Allan's area of responsibility is now Florida, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. His team in Miami perform the full range of consulate roles, including consular, trade and investment, and political. The consulate in Orlando only performs consular work, with their focus on the many thousands of UK visitors to the area each year. THE BRITISH CONSULATE-GENERAL in MIAMI deals with trade between the UK and other countries, via the British Government's Trade and Investment office in London.  Trade and Investment is the Government organisation that supports companies in the UK doing business internationally and overseas enterprises seeking to locate in the UK. UK Trade & Investment provides access to a growing network of global business advisors, market entry intelligence and guidance on operational issues. Unrivalled government connections, in-depth knowledge of UK regional business, ties to leading institutions, science and technology resources, as well as its global diplomatic and commercial networks make UK Trade & Investment a unique strategic resource for companies that want to operate in the number one business location in Europe. It assists British firms in the UK and those based in Florida to find overseas business. It operates under the British Government's international trade programme WEBSITE: www.uktradeinvestusa.com They are your global business partners. Because of its proximity to South America the Miami British Consulate-General has a heavy focus on promoting UK-Latin America trade. If you are a British-owned business or a Florida-based subsidiary of a UK company and you wish to do business internationally, the Miami staff will assist you with resources and:

  • Identifying opportunities and creating sales leads in the UK and all South American countries and over 200 countries total.
  • Trade Partners UK gives you access to the full range of UK Government help for Britain's exporters and overseas investors.
  • Advice and help to achieve your international sales goals.
  • Find a reliable rep/agent in another country who will sell your products.
The British Consulate-General in Miami is responsible for British interests in the Florida, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, including Political, Press and Public Diplomacy.  Additionally, the Miami based Trade & Investment Team promotes trade and investment opportunities throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, South Carolina, and the US Virgin Islands.
  • FABB [Florida Association of British Business] works with the British Consulate-General in Miami [and via referral from the Orlando office] because many of our British business members trade with the UK and South America. FABB members since 1997 have been included on trade missions, functions and events organised by the British Consulate-General.

What are the benefits of registering?  Many, but just think, if a catastrophe occurs, such as a major hurricane, tsunami, or terrorist attack, the Consulate will have an instant record of your details so that they can contact you to make sure you’re OK and provide advice and assistance.  Or if family and friends need to get in touch with you urgently, for example if a family member dies when you are away on your holidays, the Consulate can help them to find you.    More information: http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travelling-and-living-overseas/Locate/
To register: https://www.locate.fco.gov.uk/locateportal/

ALSO:  UK PUBLIC SERVICES   Have a question about the National Health Service?  Want to find out about taking your pet to the UK?  Need a UK driving licence?  The Consulate-General does not handle these types of enquiries, but visit www.direct.gov.uk for all the very latest up-to-date information about UK public services.  It's all there!
